Uniforms<\/h2>\r\n

\r\n\r\nThe students at St. Joseph Parish School follow a required dress code.\u00a0 Following an established dress code is an important component of our school community for a few reasons:<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0A positive personal appearance is a reflection of the individual student as well as St. Joseph Parish School.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Competition in attire is counterproductive in the learning environment.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Good grooming and appropriate attire are important life skills.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Our uniform policy creates a professional look and prepares students for the business world.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

 <\/p>\r\n\r\n

General Rules and Guidelines<\/h2>\r\n

\r\n\r\nGeneral Rules and Guidelines:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0K3-8th Grade students are to be in uniform during school hours; this includes arriving at school and when leaving the building.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Whether in or out of uniform, clothing must fit properly, be clean and in good repair.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Shirts must always be tucked in.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0No logos or labels should be visible.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Shorts may be worn during August, September, October, May and June or on other very warm days as specified by the principal.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Skirts, jumpers and shorts must be of reasonable length (3\u201d above the knee).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0A uniform shirt must be worn under sweaters and sweatshirts.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Bike shorts (not to be visible below the hemline) or leggings must be worn under skirts and jumpers.\u00a0 Tights or leggings (no pants) are to be worn under skirts and jumpers from November 1st to May 1st.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0No open-back or open-toe footwear.\u00a0 Additionally, footwear must have a back strap and socks must be worn inside all shoes.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Simple jewelry may be worn.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0Hats and scarves cannot be worn in the classroom.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\u00b7\u00a0If a belt is worn, it must be brown or black.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Enforcement<\/h2>\r\n

\r\n\r\nWhen students come to school out of uniform it is at the discretion of the staff to determine if the parents will be contacted and asked to bring appropriate uniform clothes to school or if the student will be sent to the office to change their clothing.\u00a0 A Uniform Code Reminder form will be given to your child with the reason the student was determined to be out of uniform.\u00a0 It must be signed by a parent and returned to school.\u00a0 Repeated uniform code violations will be addressed by the principal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Clothing Requirements<\/h2>\r\n

\r\n\r\nUniform clothing may be purchased at any vendor that meets the uniform requirement described in this policy.\u00a0 When purchasing the plaid pattern, the squares should be large in size.\u00a0 Suggestions for places to purchase uniforms are as follows: Lands\u2019 End (Use code #9000-2684-0 to donate back to school), The Children\u2019s Place, Old Navy, Target, Kohl\u2019s, frenchtoast.com, and Amazon.\u00a0 Gently used uniform clothing is available for sale in the school office from August\u2014May.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nUniforms consist of a solid color shirt with pants\/shorts or skirts and jumpers for girls.\u00a0 <\/b>Specifics and variations can be found below.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Girls and Boys<\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nShirts<\/strong>:\u00a0 Solid white oxford button down or blouses for girls.\u00a0 Solid white, navy, fire engine red, or hunter green polo shirts.\u00a0 No wide collars or rib knit or sleeveless tops.\u00a0 Shirts must be long enough to be tucked in.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nPants<\/strong>:\u00a0 Solid navy or brown khaki; dress, twill, chino, or trouser style. (Slight flare acceptable.) Elastic waist pants are permissible.\u00a0 No elastic at ankles.\u00a0 No jean styles (five pocket with rivets).\u00a0 No wide-leg cargo patch pockets on pant legs.\u00a0 No capri pants.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nShorts<\/strong>: Solid navy or brown khaki; walking style uniform shorts.\u00a0 No patch pockets or cargo shorts.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nSweaters<\/strong>: Solid navy, white, fire engine red, or hunter green; sweater vest, pullover, or cardigan.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nCrew or Hooded Sweatshirts*<\/strong>: Solid navy or hunter green (ordered only through the school office).<\/p>\r\n

*All uniform sweatshirts must have St. Joseph Parish School logo on them.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n*Sweatshirts with the Lancer logo may only be worn on assigned spirit wear days. <\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

GIRLS<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nJumpers and Skirts: \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> Plaid, (large squares), solid navy, or brown khaki.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nBike Shorts:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Solid navy, black, or white.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nLeggings: <\/strong> Solid navy, black, fire engine red, grey, or white; cotton knit material.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

No patterns on leggings<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

 <\/p>\r\n\r\n

Out of Uniform Days<\/h2>\r\n

\r\n\r\nThroughout the school year, there will be announced non-uniform days.\u00a0 Although uniforms need not be worn, there is still a dress code in effect.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n1.\u00a0Shorts may not be worn November\u2014April.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n2.\u00a0Shorts\/skirts must be no more than 3\u201d above the knee.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n3.\u00a0Jeans and\/or pants must be in good repair, with no holes or exposed skin.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n4.\u00a0Sleeveless tops are allowed, but no spaghetti straps, halter tops, or jerseys without a t-shirt underneath.\u00a0 Muscle shirts (boys and girls) are not allowed.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n5.\u00a0T-shirts must be free of offensive pictures or messages.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n6.\u00a0\u201cOut-of-Uniform\u201d coupons may only be used on Fridays if there is NOT a school liturgy scheduled for that day.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n7.\u00a0Scouting uniforms may be worn on the day of your child\u2019s scout meeting.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n8.\u00a0Students may go out out-of-uniform on their birthday or half-birthday.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

 <\/p>\r\n\r\n

Spirit Wear Days<\/h2>\r\n

\r\n\r\n1.\u00a0Any shirt, jersey, sweatshirt, and\/or t-shirt that has the name of St. Joseph\u2019s and\/or a Lancer\u2019s logo on it.\u00a0 If a student plans to take his\/her sweatshirt off during school, he\/she must have a St. Joseph\u2019s t-shirt or uniform shirt underneath.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n2. Jeans, shorts, athletic pants, Lancerwear shorts or pants, and uniform pants, skirts or jumpers may be worn.<\/p>\r\n
