Andy Smith
His relationship with St Joseph Parish began in 2002, when the Youth of St Joseph Parish went on a Summer Workcamp Trip. He, accompanied by his now wife, Laura, had the blessing of beginning a life-long friendship with Brenda Cline, who was our Youth Minister at the time.
In 2009 he began working in the Catholic Church teaching in several Catholic Schools, and directing St Peter Catholic Parish's Contemporary Ensemble for three years. In 2012 he became the full time Director of Music at St Peter Catholic Parish. Andy has LOVED all his years directing three adult choir groups, and various children's choirs throughout the liturgical year.
In 2014 he began teaching at St Joseph, along with providing music at our Thursday morning Masses, and many Christmas and Spring Concerts, all focused on our School’s Mission: Teaching, Learning, Leading, and Serving as the Hands of Christ.
Andy also enjoyed directing nine musicals, with performances in our very own Doherty Hall each Spring. Andy looks forward to continuing to teach and direct in our school, and looks forward to exploring opportunities to bring our students, families, parishioners, and staff closer through music in the Liturgy.
In Andy's personal life, he and his wife Laura have four children; Elijah, Josephine, Theodore, and Hazel. They enjoy traveling and camping together as a family during the summer months, playing board games when they have time, and are all looking forward to having Dad working a bit closer to home.
Andy is very excited to begin working with folks here at St Joseph Parish, and continuing to teach Music in our School as well. His hope is to continue fostering a lively music program, honoring the history and legacy of those before, while venturing into the future of our faith. He also hopes not only to work with the talented choir members we already have here, but also look forward to welcoming new members as well. Andy hopes to especially connect with the families and children of the parish, and to offer many opportunities to get all more involved in the Mass.
